QUEENS, NY — One person was killed and another was critically injured after a fire at a Queens apartment building early Monday morning.
The fire broke out at 45-08 40th Street around 2:40 a.m., the FDNY said.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other person was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Specifics on their injuries were not known at this time.
The blaze was put under control around 3:21 p.m. The fire seems to have started on the second floor of the building.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
