QUEENS, NY — A NYPD recruit collapsed and died as he was training at the Police Academy in Queens on Monday.
The NYPD confirmed the death of Probationary police officer Kamir Loubarria in a post on X.
"Kamir was committed to a life of service and helping to keep New York City safe. The entire NYPD mourns this devastating loss."
The incident happened around 12:40 p.m. at the Stephen D. McDonald Police Academy in College Point.
The city's medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
