3. Kyle Palmieri Launches ROGER for Long Island Veterans (southshorepress.com) — Veterans, service members, and military families in Queens can now use the free ROGER New York online hub to quickly find verified benefits, housing, and mental health resources. Launched by Islanders forward Kyle Palmieri's foundation, the tool personalizes results by service branch and residence and is already serving Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens counties, with statewide expansion planned for 2027.
4. Heartwrenching funeral photos capture tearful young daughter of NYPD recruit who collapsed during run at Police Academy (nypost.com) — Mourners gathered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ozone Park, Queens, to honor NYPD recruit Kamir Lou-Barria, who collapsed during a training run at the Police Academy. Good Shout Productions (backstage.com) — Queens actors and families can submit kids ages 8–16 for a background Boy Scout role in an absurd sci-fi horror comedy shooting for one day in Brooklyn this October. The nonunion project from Good Shout Productions is unpaid but open to talent from Queens and across the New York City area, with full submission details available to Backstage members.
