🌱 Bronx-Whitestone Bridge Crash + Harsh Hurricane Season Predicted
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Queens.

Good morning, everybody! It's Thursday in Queens and I'm back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening in the community today. Keep reading for the latest.
First, today's weather:
A brief afternoon shower. High: 66 Low: 63.
Here are the top three stories today in Queens:
- Six were injured in a crash on the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge on Wednesday. According to FDNY, all of the six were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. As of Wednesday afternoon, there is no word on what caused the crash or how many vehicles were involved. The crash occurred on the southbound side of the bridge, causing slowed traffic from the Bronx into Queens. (Patch)
- Two brothers and NYPD officers who were accused of being part of a prostitution conspiracy have been acquitted. At the trial on Tuesday, the officers were acquitted by arguing that they had simply planned their cousin's bachelor party and were not involved in the prostitution ring. According to authorities, the eight-brothel prostitution and gambling operation was overseen by retired Detective Ludwig Paz and his wife. (New York Daily News)
- Queens residents fear the worst as meteorologists predict a harsh hurricane season. With Hurricane Ida less than a year behind us, forecasters believe that 14-21 named storms will hit the Atlantic coast this season, with three to six of them potentially becoming hurricanes. New York City Mayor Eric Adams encourages New Yorkers to know which of the six evacuation zones they live in and to be ready to evacuate when the time comes. (CBS New York)
