JFK Airport Hilton Layoffs Postponed Till Holidays: Notice
Roughly 100 workers at a long-to-shutter Hilton won't be laid off till right after Christmas, according to a state notice.

QUEENS, NY — The longer-than-expected closure of a Hilton hotel near JFK Airport will put more than 100 employees out of work soon after Christmas, according to a new state layoff notice.
Layoffs of 111 employees at Hilton JFK Hotel slated for mid-September are now slated to unfold Dec. 29, a notice states.
The delay is apparently not the only one for the hotel since its sale for planned conversion into more than 300 new apartments, the New York Times first reported.

Developers told Patch at the time that the layoffs would unfold in June with the hotel's planned closure.
A spokesperson for the developer told Patch said there have been no change to plans, and referred questions about the workers to the hotel's management.

A Hilton representative said the hotel is independently owned and operated. They passed along a request for comment to the owners, who didn't return it as of publication.
The hotel's operators originally filed a layoff notice in March shortly after the 135th Avenue property's sale.
