Multiple NYPD Officers Injured In NYC Home Explosion

QUEENS, NY — A home explosion in Queens injured multiple NYPD officers early Thursday morning.

Officers arrived at 107-55 130th Street around 2:42 a.m. after receiving a 911 call of an ongoing domestic dispute.

According to police, a suspect, identified as Anroop Parasram, 50, is accused of forcing his way into the home and dumping plastic bags filled with canisters inside

A family member who called 911 told police that the man arrived to the home intoxicated and was armed with a knife. There was also the smell of gas in the home.

Parasram's daughter and his two grandchildren managed to escape.

The 50-year-old threatened his wife with the knife before she was also able to escape to safety.

Parasram's wife then police the key to the home.

As police attempted to enter the home, an explosion caused multiple officers to be thrown off their feet, with some being launched into gates at the front of the residence.

Eight police officers were injured and treated for burns. One officer needed stitches for a laceration to his head.

Five other individuals suffered injuries.

Parasram remains unaccounted for and its unknown at this time if he escaped or perished in the explosion.

Sixteen people were displaced after the incident and the Red Cross is offering support.

An investigation remains ongoing.
