NY & Atlantic Donates PPE Suits to Ridgewood Vol. Ambulance Corps
NY & Atlantic Railway supports volunteer EMT's responding to overwhelming number of requests for emergency medical service during pandemic
New York & Atlantic Railway (NYAR) recently donated 400 personal protective equipment (PPE) suits and $2,000 to support the Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The PPE suits provide full head-to-ankle suit protection in hazardous environments and will help ambulance workers interacting with patients potentially infected with COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. The additional $2,000 donation will be used by the Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps to purchase medical supplies and help fund the organization’s operational expenses. NYAR officials presented to donations to the officers from the Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps on Friday, May 15, 2020, at NYAR’s Fresh Pond facility in Glendale.

Bonner, president, New York & Atlantic Railway. “We appreciate all they do in giving of their own time providing a vital service to our community.”

The Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps members are highly trained emergency medical workers and have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. The volunteers often place themselves at risk of infection as they work tirelessly to assist the community and support the FDNY in responding to requests for emergency medical service in Ridgewood, Maspeth, Bushwick, and Wycoff Heights, and surrounding communities.
