NYRR Queens 10k Run: What You Need To Know
New York Road Runner's Queens 10k Run kicks off Saturday morning in Corona Park.
QUEENS, NY — Flushing Meadows Park will host the third race in the 2019 NYRR Five-Borough Series on Saturday morning.
The NYRR Queens 10k race will be broken down into two starting waves, with the first beginning at 7:45 a.m. and the second at 8:15 a.m.
The New York Road Runners series is meant to showcase the organization's commitment to the running communities in each borough, and also celebrate what makes each borough unique, according to its website.

The other races within the series include the United Airlines NYC Half, the Popular Brooklyn Half, the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile and the NYRR Staten Island Half.
There will be a complimentary medal engraving ceremony after the 2019 NYRR Queens 10k on both Sunday, June 16 and Monday, June 17 for NYRR Members and myNB Rewards Golden Members.

Here's everything you need to know about the 2019 NYRR Queens 10k on Saturday.
When is it?
The NYRR Queens 10k is on Saturday, June 15. Each participant will be placed into either Wave Number 1 or Wave Number 2, with the first wave leaving at 7:45 a.m. and the second wave leaving at 8:15 a.m.
Where is it?
The race is in the Flushing Meadows Corona Park, and begins on Meridian Road between the Avenue of Discovery and the Avenue of Research.
Are there prizes?
To be eligible for NYRR member prize money, participants must have an active NYRR membership for six months prior to race day. Prices are:

What is the race route?
Mile 1: Start on Meridian Road between the Avenue of Discovery and the Avenue of Research. Follow Meridian Road before turning left onto Meadow Lake Road West/Meadow Lake Promenade.
Mile 2: Follow Meadow Lake Drive West and bear right on Meadow Dr. Turn right to continue on Meadow Dr, around to the Meadowlark Circle to cross the Amphitheater Bridge and continue on Avenue of Asia. Right turn onto Avenue of Africa and right onto Meridian Rd.
Mile 3: Run an out-and-back loop on Shea Road, turning onto the other side of the road near Citi Field at Boat Basin Place
Mile 4: Follow Shea Road and Meridian Road, turning left onto the United Nations Avenue North ramp and bear left onto the Zoo Path. The Mile 4 marker will be on the Zoo Path.
Mile 5: Continue on the Zoo Path, turning left on United Nations Avenue South. Cross the Zoo Bridge, then turn right onto Avenue of the States and run around the New York State Pavilion. When you get back to United Nations Avenue South, turn left, then make a right onto Avenue of the States, continuing alongside the Queens Museum. Turn right at United Nations Avenue North, then another right at the Freedom of the Human Spirit Statue before heading towards the Unisphere. Run around the Unisphere and follow Avenue of the Americas toward the Mile 5 marker.
Mile 6: Continue on Avenue of the Americas, turning right at New York Avenue / David Dinkins Circle, before making another right onto the Avenue of Commerce. Follow the Avenue of Commerce and make a right onto Herbert Hoover Promenade. Continue towards the Unisphere, and just before reaching the steps leading to the Unisphere, turn left toward Astronaut Court and proceed towards Dwight Eisenhower Promenade. Mile 6 is on Dwight Eisenhower Promenade, and the finish is on Dwight Eisenhower Promenade just before the Fountain of the Planets.
Are there any street closures?
Because the race takes place entirely in the park no streets outside of the parks confines are closed. The roads within Corona Park will however be totally closed from 7 a.m. until the race is over.

It looks like the sun will mostly be shining on Saturday in Queens. Sunny to partly cloudy skies are expected with a high of 78 degrees and low of 66 degrees, according to a weather forecast by AccuWeather. There is however a 25 percent chance of rain.
