Pokeworks Rolls into Fresh Meadows
Local Entrepreneurs Open Hawaiian-Inspired Poke Concept

This November, Fresh Meadows foodies lined up to get a taste of Pokéworks, the nation’s leading healthy, fast-casual poke restaurant. The new spot at 61-24 190th Street, Space 24A, in Fresh Meadows Place Shopping Center, officially debuted in September with a fresh take on Hawaiian-inspired poke bowls and burritos with a convenient and customizable menu.
Queens residents Yate Liu and Alvin Zhang were friends long before they were brothers-in-law and have known each other for over 12 years. Alvin currently works in corporate America as an Associate Director at a global consulting firm and owns a few businesses of his own. Yate is also a multi-business owner, including two authentic Chinese restaurants in Flushing, where he was introduced to Pokéworks by a co-founder, Peter Yang. The two of them previously brought Pokeworks to Woodbury, Long Island and it has been one of the hottest local spots since its debut in January 2019. The new Pokéworks in Fresh Meadows is their second location together. Alvin and Yate love the healthy and affordable options and are excited to bring more flavors into the Fresh Meadows dining scene.
Inspired by sustainable, seasonal and natural ingredients, Pokéworks believes in the importance of meeting today’s needs while preserving our oceans. Guests of all dietary restrictions, including those maintaining gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan, as well as cooked or raw protein diets can enjoy and build their own poke bowls, burritos or salads by selecting a base protein – tuna, salmon, chicken, shrimp, scallops and tofu, unique regional mix-ins, flavoring sauces, toppings and crunchy texture.

“Poke lovers in Fresh Meadows will quickly come to find that Pokéworks is substantially different than your typical fast-casual restaurant,” said Zhang. “Our genuinely fresh ingredients, responsibly-sourced seafood and chef-curated sauces, paired with the unique demographic of the Fresh Meadows community makes Pokéworks the destination for fresh, fast and reliable food.”
Founded in 2015 with its first store in Midtown Manhattan, Pokéworks is building on momentum largely fueled by its millennial relevance and deep-rooted commitment to sustainability efforts as seen through its certified reclaimed wood building material. With restaurants in California, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington, Connecticut, Illinois, Arizona, Texas and more, Pokéworks has carved out a unique niche in the industry with over 40 locations open and more than 100 locations projected to open by end of 2020.
