Progressive Grocer names Stop & Shop Store Manager to Top Women in Grocery
Queens Resident Carletta Cantres Among Honorees

Progressive Grocer, a leading retail food industry trade publication, has named Stop & Shop’s Carletta Cantres to its 2017 Top Women in Grocery, which honors outstanding female leaders in the retailer and supplier community sectors.
Cantres, a long-time Queens resident, started with the company in 1987 as a cashier and then moved onto a role in bookkeeping for eight years, before working her way up to a management position in 2001 as a Customer Service Manager. She helped to open the Hempstead store, hiring all of the full and part-time staff and was then promoted to Produce Manager. She was then transferred to the Maspeth store to help lead the team as Produce Manager, eventually becoming the Store Manager. She has also served in management positions in East Meadow and Inwood on Long Island, and Glendale, Forest Hills and her current position in Arverne in the Rockaways.
“We’re proud to recognize these dedicated associates who have excelled throughout their tenure with the company and continue to be examples to their colleagues,” said Robert Spinella, Vice President of Human Resources, Stop & Shop New York Metro.
