Queens Basement Fire Kills 1, Injures Several Others
An FDNY firefighter was among those injured when the fire broke out at a home on 132nd Street on Thursday, officials said.

QUEENS, NY — A man died and a firefighter was among several injured in a blaze at a Queens home on Thursday, according to officials and reports.
Firefighters responded to a residence at 94-14 132nd Street between 95 Avenue and Atlantic Avenue in Richmond Hill just after 5 p.m. Thursday, according to FDNY officials. When firefighters arrived, they discovered a fire had started in the home's basement, officials said.
Twelve units and 60 firefighters and EMS personnel were at the scene of the fire, officials said. The blaze was under control shortly before 5:45 p.m.

According to officials, four people were injured in the fire, including an FDNY firefighter.
One victim, identified by police as a 72-year-old man, was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
