Queens Man Stashed Illegal Guns At His Job: DA

QUEENS, NY — A Queens man who stashed illegal guns at his job faces a long list of felonies, prosecutors said.

Stevel Salamalay, 30, was arraigned Tuesday along with another Jamaica man — Christopher Lall, 32 — after cops found both had stockpiled firearms, including ghost guns, high-capacity magazines, ammunition and gun manufacturing tools, authorities said.

All told, a dozen illegal firearms and manufacturing tools were seized and can't be used to inflict damage, said Melinda Katz, district attorney for Queens.

"Illegal firearms cause unspeakable tragedies in our communities," she said in a statement.

A long-term probe by Queens district attorney's investigators found that both Lall and Salamalay had purchased polymer-based firearm components without serial numbers, prosecutors said. Those parts would be untraceable, making any assembled weapons "ghost guns," authorities said.

The investigation led to Aug. 23 searches of Lall's home and storage unit on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, as well as Salamalay's 89th Avenue home and his workplace in Manhattan, prosecutors said.

Authorities found, according to a release from the Queens district attorney's office:

• 9-millimeter semiautomatic ghost gun pistol, loaded with six rounds of 9-millimeter caliber ammunition
• Two P80 Glock-style 9-millimeter semiautomatic ghost gun firearms
• .38 Special revolver, loaded with six rounds of .38 Special caliber ammunition
• .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol, loaded with 10 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition
• .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol, loaded with nine rounds of .40 caliber ammunition
• .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol, loaded with seven rounds of .380 caliber ammunition
• 5.56-caliber assault pistol with a threaded barrel and a 30-round detachable box magazine loaded with 30 rounds of 5.56-caliber ammunition
• Glock 19 9-millimitier semiautomatic pistol firearm.
• Taurus 9-millimeter semiautomatic firearm
• Llama 9-millimeter semiautomatic firearm
• Revolver firearm
• Double barrel 12-gauge shotgun
• 18 high-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition

Neither Lall or Salamalay had a license to possess or own firearms in New York City, prosecutors said.

Lall faces a 57-count complaint with numerous charges of criminal possession of a weapon. Salamalay faces a 40-count complaint on similar charges.

Both men face up to 15 years in prison, if convicted.
