(Patch Media)

Hi all. I'm back in your inbox this morning to walk you through the most important things happening in town today. Here goes.

First, today's weather:

Some sun, then clouds; breezy. High: 77 Low: 66.

Here are the top three stories today in Queens:

  1. Queens residents will have a great view of the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show this summer. The show is set to return next month, flying high above the East River once again beginning around 9:25 p.m. Public viewing locations will be available in Queens — details will be announced closer to the show. (NBC New York)
  2. Beginning Jul. 1, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) crews will begin the final phase of a Queens track replacement project. J and Z service between Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK Airport and Jamaica Center-Parson/Archer stations will temporarily be shut down due to the project; free substitute shuttle bus service will be provided during that time. Work is expected to be completed in 10 weeks. (Mass Transit Magazine)
  3. On Monday morning, an unattended vehicle was removed near John F. Kennedy International Airport's AirTrain. A bomb squad removed the car, which first drew the attention of a police dog at about 10:40 a.m. The vehicle caused transit delays; according to JFK Airport Twitter, free buses replaced the AirTrain service at the time.
