- On Friday, elementary school students from St. Peter's and St. Cadoc's primary schools in Wales visited P.S. 60 - The Woodhaven School in Queens to get a crash course in its writing instruction. P.S. 60 has been using the Hochman Method of expository writing instruction since 2017, which aims to teach students how to express themselves coherently through writing. According to a press release, P.S. 60, St. Cadoc's, and St. Peter's students have all expressed an interest in becoming pen pals to continue their collaboration in expository writing. (PR Newswire)
- Delta Airlines' new terminal at LaGuardia Airport opened to the public this weekend. New York Governor Kathy Hochul participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the terminal on Jun. 1, describing the opening as "another milestone in the history of LaGuardia but also for the state of New York." Hochul noted that the final years of construction stayed on schedule, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. (Fortune)
- A Chinese restaurant in Flushing was vandalized on Saturday afternoon by a customer who had been kicked out of the establishment earlier that day. After being asked to leave 4 Choices & A Soup on Roosevelt Avenue for not wearing pants, the customer reportedly returned around 4:40 p.m. with a hammer. Security video footage captured the man smashing doors, windows, and the glass surrounding the food bar. The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, was arrested and has charges pending against him. (New York Post)
