Woman Struck And Killed By Garbage Truck On NYC Street

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

QUEENS, NY — A 19-year-old woman was struck and killed by a garbage truck in Queens on Sunday night, police said.

The incident happened at 62nd Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Woodside around 11:55 p.m.

Nineteen-year-old Nishath Jannath was walking across 62nd Street when she was hit by a Royal Waste Services sanitation truck attempting to make a right-hand turn.

Jannath was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the sanitation truck remained at the scene. No arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed as of Monday morning.
