1 Drug Dealer Tries To Steal Another's Stash, Both Indicted: DA

"Arrests like this one gets the poison out of our communities."

RIVERHEAD, NY — Two drug dealers were indicted after a crackdown by Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini's heroin task force, officials said.

Sini and the Northport Police Department announced the indictment Wednesday of the two individuals in connection with the sale of cocaine and other illicit substances, the DA said.

“This investigation did not stop with the arrest of one defendant,” Sini said. “Because of the dedication of the Northport Police Department, we were able to identify an accomplice who was allegedly attempting to remove the main target’s drug stash from his home after he was arrested. This indictment was the result of excellent investigative efforts and collaboration between the members of the heroin task force.”

The case "is a fine example of the level of cooperation that exists on a daily basis between the layers of law enforcement in Suffolk County,” Northport Police Chief William Ricca said. “Resources and intelligence are routinely shared and the results are arrests like this one that gets the poison out of our communities.”

Jonathan Goldberg, 48, of Northport, was arrested and charged with second degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; three counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; and third degree criminal possession of marijuana, felony, the DA said.

Denise Streeker, 42, of Manorville, was arrested and charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; and third degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, the DA said.

The investigation identified Goldberg as a drug dealer and revealed evidence that he conducted two drug transactions in the parking lot of Ruvo Restaurant, located on Broadway in Greenlawn, on March 22, the DA said. Goldberg was arrested by Northport Police officers and was found in possession of more than four ounces of powder cocaine, Sini said.

On March 25, officers from the Northport Police Department and Suffolk County Police Department’s emergency service section went to execute a search warrant at Goldberg’s residence, located on Scudder Place, when they observed Streeker leaving the house in a vehicle, Sini said. Streeker was apprehended by police and was found in possession of more than one-half of an ounce of oxycodone pills, approximately 85 grams of psilocybin, or mushrooms, approximately one pound of marijuana, and $26,700 in cash, Sini said.

Goldberg and Streeker were arraigned on the indictment Wednesday by Suffolk County Court Judge Philip Goglas, Sini said. Bail was set for Goldberg at $100,000 cash or $250,000 bond, and bail was set for Streeker at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond, Sini said.

If convicted of the top count, Goldberg faces a maximum determinate sentence of up to 10 years in prison and Streeker faces a maximum determinate sentence of up to nine years in prison, Sini said.

Goldberg and Streeker are due back in court on April 19.
