2 Nabbed In Riverhead Underage Drinking Enforcement Detail: Police

The enforcement detail took place in Riverhead Tuesday, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Two people were nabbed in an underage drinking enforcement operation in Riverhead Tuesday, police said.

New York State Police from the Riverside barracks conducted the effort. Two retail establishments were cited for selling an alcoholic beverage to an undercover state police operative under the age of 21, police said.

Arrested and charged with first-degree unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, police said, were:

- Lutfi Buyukcibir, 37, of Riverhead, a clerk at Aquebogue Mini Mart on Main Road in Aquebogue.

- Winnifred Powell-Holmes, 52, of Mastic, a clerk at Speedway on Old Country Road in Riverhead.

The following establishments were also checked and found to be in compliance, police said:

  1. Jamesport Liquors on Main Road in Jamesport.
  2. 7-Eleven on Old Country Road in Riverhead.
  3. Empire Mini Mart on Old Country Road in Riverhead.
  4. Wine Mart on Old Country Road in Riverhead.
  5. Roanoke Plaza Liquors on Old Country Road in Riverhead.
  6. Citgo Mini Mart on Osbourne Avenue in Riverhead.
  7. Riverhead Liquor Mart on Old Country Road in Riverhead.
  8. Gulf Petroleum on Old Country Road in Riverhead.
