2 Shot In Riverhead Parking Lot: Cops
The two shot are believed to have been targeted and the incident was not a random act, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Two people were shot in a Riverhead parking lot early Sunday, police said.
According to Riverhead Police, the incident took place at 12:05 a.m., when police responded to several complaints of a large party being held on East Avenue.
Patrols responded to the residence and stood by as a number of teens began to leave the area; while at the residence, officers on location reported hearing several gunshots nearby, police said.

Upon checking the area, officers located two males with apparent gunshot wounds in the 1st Street parking lot, south of the residence where the party was held, police said.

Witnesses in the area reported several males involved in the shooting who were seen running from the area, police said.

The two injured males were treated at the scene and subsequently transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by members of Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said. Both underwent surgery as a result of their injuries and are in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The two shot appear to have been targeted and the incident is not believed to be a random act, police said.
