2 Teens Critically Injured In Riverhead Crash: Police
The crash took place early Monday, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Two teens were seriously injured in a Riverhead crash early Monday, police said.
A call came in around 12:30 a.m. about a crash on Sound Avenue after a 2017 Honda Civic careened off the road and hit a tree with a driver, 18, and a 16-year-old passenger, Riverhead Police said.
The Riverhead Volunteer Fire Department and Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded; the fire department extricated the pair from the vehicle, police said.

The male driver, 18, of Riverhead, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County aviation and remains in critical condition, police said. The passenger was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center via ambulance and then later to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is also in critical condition, police said.
There are no criminal charges at this time, police said.
