2 Tire Store Break-Ins Reported In Riverhead: Cops

Rocks were thrown through both doors, with the cash register tray and money stolen from one business, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Two Riverhead tire businesses were the targets of break-ins early Saturday, police said.

According to Riverhead Police, on Saturday at 12:46 a.m., an alarm was activated at Firestone, located at 815 Old Country Rd. in Riverhead.

Officers at the scene discovered that the front door glass had been smashed with a rock, police said. The building was checked by responding police officers and nothing appeared to be missing, police said.

Officers were advised of the break and after checking the local businesses in their sectors, a second break was found at Mavis Discount Tire, located at 1064 Woodcrest Ave. in Riverhead, police said.

Someone smashed the front glass window with a rock and removed the cash register tray containing money, police said.

Both burglaries are currently under investigation by the Riverhead Police Department's detective division; anyone who witnessed either incident or has any information is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500. All calls will remain confidential.
