2 Women Steal $3.6K+ In Clothing From LI Polo On Black Friday: PD

Police are still searching for the second woman, authorities say. The first was caught driving under the influence, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Two women stole more than $3,600 worth of clothing from the Polo Ralph Lauren store at the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead on Black Friday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident was reported at 10:17 a.m.; two women entered the store and stole the merchandise before leaving in a black sedan, police said.

Officers canvassed the area for the car, a 2021 Honda Civic, and the women; the vehicle was located and police initiated a traffic stop, authorities said.

The driver, Jermell Dixon, 33, of Mastic, was identified as one of the women who'd stolen the clothing; proceeds from the theft were located in the vehicle, police said. She was also determined to be driving under the influence, police said.

She was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony; third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony; DWI; and false personation, police said. She was processed and held for arraignment at Riverhead Justice Court, police said.

The second woman, who was not located, was described as a heavyset Black woman wearing a dark-colored hat, a black ski mask, a gray sweatshirt and black shoes, police said.
