Artists brought their talents to downtown Riverhead Sunday for an annual street painting festival that inspires creativity, community.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Artists young and old brought their vision and creativity to downtown Riverhead Sunday for the 26th Annual Community Mosaic Street Painting Festival.

Presented by East End Arts, the event took place on East Main Street. The street painting festival is inspired by the tradition of "Il Madonnari," a street chalk art form in Italy dating back to the 16th century, organizers said.

Street painting squares were sponsored by businesses, families and individuals — canvases where art was created for all to enjoy.
