RIVERHEAD, NY — A beloved tradition returns to downtown Riverhead Sunday as the 27th Annual Mosaic Street Painting Festival unfolds.

Taking place on May 28 from noon to 5 p.m. and presented by East End Arts, the event is inspired by the street artists of Grazie di Curtatone in Italy, EEA said.

"This event— the only one of its kind on Long Island—transforms the downtown Riverhead arts district into a day-long celebration of community and creativity. Stroll, enjoy the fresh air, check out dozens of local vendors, watch artists in action, and participate in family-oriented activities. Music fills the air, as do the enticing aromas of local food purveyors," EEA said.

Artists, musicians, and art lovers of all ages are invited to participate, or watch, "as creatives convert squares on the street into vibrant and moving works of art," EEA said.

Street painting squares are sponsored by businesses, families and individuals — canvases where art is created for all to enjoy.
