3 Men Invade Suffolk Home; Woman Hit With Hammer
The suspects attempted to steal a safe but dropped it as they fled the home, police say.
SHOREHAM, NY — Three men burglarized an occupied home in Shoreham, police said.
Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the burglary that took place on Thursday at 3 a.m.; three men, one armed with what appeared to be a handgun, entered a residence on Suffolk Down and confronted a man and woman who live in a rear bedroom, police said.
The men attempted to steal a safe but dropped it as they fled the home, police said. During the burglary, the woman was struck in the head with a hammer by one of the suspects; she was treated and released at a local hospital, police said.

Detectives believe the burglary was targeted. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
