3 Men Caught For Trying to Use Counterfeit Money at Kmart: Police

BREAKING: The men tried to use counterfeit funds on Friday, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Three men were nabbed for trying to use counterfeit bills to pay for purchases at Kmart in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, on Friday at 12:37 p.m., a loss prevention employee from the Kmart located on Old Country Road reported that a man tried to use counterfeit money. He left the store after the purchase was denied, leaving behind $320 in counterfeit money, police said.

The employee was able to provide the license plate number and a suspect description to authorities, police said.

The vehicle was located and stopped by police on Commerce Drive; there were three men inside, police said. Additional counterfeit money was also found in the car, police said.

Christopher Justin, 22, of Rosedale, NY, was arrested and charged with one count of first degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, police said.

Johnoy O. Crockell, 20, of Elmont, NY, was arrested and charged with two counts of first degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.

Adrian Lewin, 18, of Elmont, NY, was charged with two counts of first degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, police said.

The trio was transported to Riverhead Police headquarters for processing and held for arraignment, police said.
