3 Shot In Riverhead Home Invasion: Cops
The incident does not appear to be a random act and at least one of those shot may have been the intended target, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Three people were shot in a Riverhead apartment early Thursday, police said.
According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 1:30 a.m. at Riverpoint Apartments on E. Main St.
Police said they received reports that shots were fired; additional 911 calls revealed that individuals had been injured in the gunfire, police said.

Responding officers initially found two people hit by gunfire inside one of the apartments located within the complex, a 15-year-old male and a 46-year-old female, police said. Both of the individuals were treated at the scene and transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps, police said.
A 29-year-old male later arrived at Peconic Bay Medical Center in a private vehicle; he was treated for multiple gunshot wounds to both legs, while the female was treated for a gunshot to her knee, police said.

The 15-year-old male was transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital due to the serious nature of his injuries, which included gunshot wounds to his stomach and arm, police said. All of the injuries, while serious in nature, are considered non-life threatening, police said.
An investigation revealed that two unknown male individuals entered the apartment and fired multiple rounds, police said. The incident does not appear to be a random act and at least one of those shot may have been the intended target, police said.
