3 Teens, 1 With Loaded Gun, Assault, Rob Man In Riverhead: Police

The three teens assaulted the man and stole money and credit cards, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Three Riverhead teens, one with a loaded firearm, were arrested after they allegedly assaulted and robbed a man Monday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place 10:05 p.m. Monday at Osborne Plaza on Osborne Avenue in Riverhead.

The victim said he was assaulted, and his attackers "forcibly removed" cash and several credit cards, police said.

The suspects fled the area prior to the arrival of police, authorities said.

A Riverhead K9 unit responded and conducted a track of the area; the track led to the discovery of several individuals to the west of the incident's location, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded; upon further investigation three teens were arrested, police said.

Gino A. Florian, 17, of Riverhead, was charged with one count of second degree robbery, a felony, one count of criminal possession of a weapon, a felony — police said he was in possession of a loaded firearm—one count of fourth degree stolen property, one count of third degree criminal trespass, and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police said.

Joseph Russo, 17, of Riverhead, was charged with one count of second degree robbery, a felony, one count of third degree criminal trespass, and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police said.

Tavares A. Redd, 16, of Riverhead, was charged with one count of second degree robbery, one count of third degree criminal trespass, and one count of fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

The victim was transported and treated at Peconic Bay Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries sustained during the robbery, police said.

Mug shots of defendants were not released due to the defendants' age, police said.
