4 Charged In Memorial Day Weekend DWI Crackdown: Cops
The four individuals were charged after being nabbed at DWI checkpoints around Riverhead, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Four individuals were charged after being arrested in a Memorial Day weekend DWI crackdown in Riverhead, police said.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Suffolk County District Attorney's DWI Task Force; members of the Riverhead Police Department, Suffolk County Police Department, and New York State Police conducted increased enforcement throughout town Saturday night, police said.
Several checkpoints had been established throughout the evening, police said.

The following individuals were arrested and charged during the enforcement, police said:
- Noe F. Ochoa-Morales, 30, of Riverhead was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.

- Tomasz Zalewski, 30 of Riverhead was charged with driving while under the influence of drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
- Candace L. Calamusa, 41, of South Setauket was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, police said.
- Marvin F. Perez-Velasquez, 39, of Riverhead was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
All four were transported to the Riverhead Police Department where they were processed and held awaiting morning arraignment, police said.
Similar enforcement details are scheduled to continue throughout the year, police said.
