$4K Reward for Info on Person Who Pushed Dog Out of Car, Abandoned Pup To Be Hit
The dog was struck while trying desperately to run after its owner, who was driving away.

As the community outrage continues to mount over a dog who was pushed out of a car and struck on the road while trying desperately to run back after its owner, efforts to catch the person who drove off have intensified.
The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $2,000 reward, and PETA is matching that amount with another $2,000, for a total reward of $4,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever pushed the pup out of the car and abandoned it on the road.
Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk County SPCA, said that on January 18 at approximately 4 p.m. a witness saw a person open the passenger side door of a vehicle; a dog jumped out.

The dog then ran to the driver’s side and the driver pushed the dog away, Gross said. The motorist, who was seen in an older model green Jeep Grand Cherokee, then drove away, with the dog chasing the car.
The witness then observed the dog get struck by another car traveling in the opposite direction. The incident occurred on Jerusalem Hollow Road heading in the vicinity of Crystal Pond Apartments in Moriches.

The dog received veterinary care after sustaining some bruising and is expected to make a full recovery.
“It’s hard to imagine the terror and confusion that this dog felt after being pushed out of a vehicle and abandoned on a busy road — only to be immediately hit by another car,” said PETA Director Stephanie Bell. “PETA urges anyone with information about this cruel incident to come forward immediately so that whoever is responsible for treating this loving dog like a piece of garbage can be held accountable.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
