5 Nabbed In Downtown Riverhead Drug Sweep: Police
Community complaints had been coming in about narcotic street sales in the West Main Street area, police say.
RIVERHEAD, NY — Community complaints over street level drug deals led to the arrests of five individuals during the past month, police said.
The complaints were centered on the area around Peconic Crossing, located on West Main Street, Riverhead Town police said.
The following people were arrested and are facing both misdemeanor and felony charges, including sale and possession of a controlled substance; several of those arrested were prior felony offenders, police said.

On October 3, Wani Turner 49, of Mastic Beach, was arrested on West Main Street and charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and seventh-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, police said.
On October 12, Damion Walker, 46, of Wading River, was arrested on West Main Street and charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance; criminal tampering with evidence; seventh-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance; second-degree obstruction of governmental administration; and resisting arrest, police said.

On October 16, Kenneth Hubbard, 20, of Riverhead, was arrested on West Main Street and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
On October 18, Octavios Rose, 28, of Riverhead, was arrested on West Main Street and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
On November 9, Monwell Wright, 30, of Riverhead, was arrested on West Main Street and charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of cannabis, police said.

This investigation was conducted by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force, the Riverhead Police Department's detective bureau, the Riverhead Police Department's COPE unit, Riverhead police K-9 and Riverhead police patrol.
