5 Things To Do Around Riverhead This Weekend

Looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend? Here's a list of events around Riverhead sure to please.

With fall coming in all its glory, Riverhead is alive with activities and bursting with events.

Here are five events to check out this weekend.

1). Boogie to some roller disco. Roller Disco Fridays are back, sponsored by the Riverhead Recreation Department Friday nights from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stotzky Park Roller Rink. $5 to Skate, Free to spectate. $5 per Skate rental (Limited availabilit; first come, first served.) Call 631-727-5744 to pre-register or to reserve a pair of skates.

2) Free Clown Show. Take the kids to see Chip Bryant, Silent Clown. Sponsored by the Riverhead Recreation Department, the free event, which features clowning, mime, juggling, magic, puppetry and music takes place at 11 a.m. for kids 4 to 12 at the Human Resource/Senior Center on Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue.

3) BMX Competition. A bike expo and competition sponsored by Riverhead Move the Animal Shelter (RMTAS) takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Stotzky Skate Park. The event features a bike contest, raffles and prizes. Admission is free to the general public, with a $20 entry fee for the bike contest. Rain date, Sept. 23.

4) Wines and Canines. A 5K Run/Walk for dog owners and their dogs to be held at Martha Clara Vineyards, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Rain or shine. 

5) Go Bowling. Saturday marks the official opening day of the All Star, a new bowling alley on Route 58 in Riverhead; take the family out for a game.
