5-Year-Old Boy Sexually Abused By Mother's Male Roommate: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — A 5-year old boy was sexually abused by his mother's adult male roommate, police said.

According to New York State Police, on Friday at 3:45 p.m., a mother walked into the Riverside barracks and reported that her son had been sexually abused by Amilcar Alvarado, 32, of Riverhead.

Alvarado was found, arrested and charged with first degree criminal sexual act, a felony, first degree sex abuse, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, police said.

Alvarado was arraigned before Southampton Town Judge Deborah Kooperstein and was remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail, police said.

Alvarado is due back in court on Oct. 17, police said.
