6 Cuffed at DWI Checkpoints In Pre-Christmas Eve Crackdown: Police

BREAKING: Enforcement details are expected to continue during the holiday season to keep roads safe, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Six drivers were arrested in Riverhead Town during a pre-Christmas Eve patrol kicked off by Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota's East End DWI Task Force, police said.

Riverhead Police Department officials reported the arrest of the six individuals as part of continued task force efforts, police said.

Members of the Riverhead Police Department, New York State Police, Suffolk County Police and Shelter Island Police Department conducted increased enforcement throughout the Town of Riverhead, where several checkpoints were established Friday night and early Saturday morning, police said.

Those arrested, police said, included:

Connor C. Clinco, 19, from Bellport, was arrested after being found in possession of marijuana while in a vehicle on Sound Avenue near Doctors Path, police said. He was transported to the Riverhead Police Department for processing and later released on an appearance ticket, police said.

Daryl S. Kettrick, 47, from Aquebogue, was arrested after being caught driving while intoxicated when he entered a sobriety checkpoint, police said. He was transported to the Riverhead Police Department where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.

Margaret R. Harrigan, 25, of Cutchogue, was arrested after she was found to be driving while under the influence of alcohol when she entered a sobriety checkpoint, police said, She was subsequently arrested and transported to Riverhead Police Department, where she was processed and later released on an appearance ticket, police said.

Henry M. Mills III, 25, from Riverside, was arrested after being caught driving while intoxicated when he entered a sobriety checkpoint; he was transported to the New York State Police Riverside barracks, where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.

Carlos R. Ajcuc-Canel, 23, from Riverhead, was arrested after being found driving while intoxicated when he entered a sobriety checkpoint; he was transported to the Riverhead Police Department where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.

Kamal C. Scott, 25, from Mastic Beach, was arrested after being found driving while under the influence of drugs when he entered a sobriety checkpoint and was subsequently charged with possession of marijuana; he was transported to the Riverhead Police Department where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.

Similar enforcement details are scheduled to continue throughout the rest of the year as well as into the New Year, police said.
