7 Busted in Riverhead DWI Task Force Operation: Police

The Memorial Day weekend crackdown took place throughout Riverhead Town Saturday night, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY - A Memorial Day weekend sobriety checkpoint in Riverhead Saturday night yielded seven arrests, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the initiative was the latest in Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota's DWI task force's ongoing effort to reign in drunk driving on the East End. The crackdown and enhanced enforcement effort was organized in conjunction with members of the Shelter Island Police, Suffolk County Police, Southold Town Police, and New York State Police, police said.

Details will continue throughout the weekend and the 2016 summer season, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the following individuals were arrested and charged:

Gregory W. Zilnicki, 24, of Calverton was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, as well as unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police said.

Lauren M. Gerstle, 30, of Brooklyn, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor

Jose Lopez Solano, 29, of Cutchogue was charged with felony DWI; his vehicle was seized, police said.

Alejandro Valle-Martinez, 31, of Riverhead, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor

Malcolm Kelly, 25, of Shirley, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor

Alicia M. Booker, 27, of Riverhead, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor

Edward Kropas, 58, of Hampton Bays was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor
