After Accident, Dad Charged with Driving Drunk with Baby, 1, in the Car: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY: A father was charged with driving drunk with his baby, 1, in the car after an accident, police said.
Three others were also arrested and charged Saturday night in a Riverhead crackdown by Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota's East End DWI Task Force, police said.
The Riverhead Police Department reported arresting four drivers at several checkpoints that had been set up throughout town Saturday night.

Jonathon Trent, 26, of Riverhead, was arrested when he entered a security checkpoint and was involved in a motor vehicle accident with another vehicle, police said. Further investigation determined that he was driving while intoxicated with a one-year-old baby in the car, police said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and violation Leandra's Law, a felony, as well as endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
Laurie Milford, 52, of Wading River, was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired, police said.

Steven Velasquez-Perez, 19, of Riverhead, was arrested and charged with DWI drugs, police said.
Carlos Garcia, 46, of Elmhurst, NY, was arrested and charged with DWI, police said.
Members of the Riverhead Police Department, Suffolk County Police Department, Southold Police Department and the Shelter Island Police Department conducted increased enforcement throughout the town of Riverhead, where several checkpoints had been established, police said.
All four subjects were subsequently transported to Riverhead police department for processing, police said. Similar enforcement details are scheduled to continue throughout the year.
