2nd Motorcyclist In 24 Hours Dies In Suffolk Crash: Police

SHOREHAM, NY — A second motorcyclist in 24 hours died in a Suffolk crash Saturday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place at about 1:05 a.m. on the William Floyd Parkway.

Daniel Austin, 23, of Mastic Beach, was riding a 2024 Honda southbound when he lost control and was ejected from his motorcycle, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call Seventh Squad detectives at 631- 852-8752.

The fatal motorcycle crash was the second in Suffolk County in 24 hours: A Port Jefferson Station man also died in a Centereach crash early Saturday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the single-vehicle crash took place on Nesconset Highway, east of Nicolls Road, at about 12:30 a.m.
