The $92 million project would relocate maternity services, modernize the facade, improve traffic flow, and support expanded women's health and neonatal care for Riverhead and the East End.

2. Riverhead Pans North Fork Pipeline Changes (eastendbeacon.com) — Riverhead residents and town officials sharply criticized the Suffolk County Water Authority's revised North Fork pipeline route at a packed hearing in the Riverhead Free Library, raising worries about traffic, wetlands, and damage to town water mains. Speakers questioned why Riverhead should host a transmission line that won't serve local customers and pressed for concrete benefits, better data, and respect for town zoning and wetlands authority.

3. Riverhead Town Board, school district clash over who pays for school resource officers (riverheadlocal.com) — Riverhead Town and the Riverhead Central School District remain at odds over how to split the cost of police school resource officers at the high school and middle school, with no deal yet as classes near. Town Board members argue non-district taxpayers shouldn't subsidize the program, while district officials say they've budgeted $200,000 and can't afford the town's preferred cost share.

4. One giant leap for inclusivity: East End Disability Associates celebrates cardboard boat race wins (timesreview.com) — Riverhead's 2026 Cardboard Boat Race on the Peconic River turned into a breakthrough moment for East End Disability Associates' LEEP team, whose carefully engineered eagle-themed boat "Leeper" captured two race wins.
