Firefighters Tackle Blaze In Riverhead: Officials

RIVERHEAD, NY — A fire broke out at a home on Joyce Drive Friday night, officials said.

According to the Riverhead Fire Department, at about 7:33 p.m., firefighters responded to the reported structure fire.

Crews encountered smoke showing and a fire on the second floor, officials said.

The incident was upgraded to a working fire, and the fire was quickly knocked down by responding crews, officials said.

Riverhead firefighters continued operating at the scene until about 8:20 p.m., officials said.

The Jamesport Fire Department was requested to the scene as the rapid intervention team, while the Flanders Fire Department provided standby coverage at Riverhead Fire Department headquarters, officials said.

No injuries were immediately reported.
