Armed Burglar with Handgun Kicks in Door of Home: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY - An armed suspect kicked in the door of a Riverhead home during an attempted burglary Saturday night, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, authorities received a call at 11:32 p.m. about a burglary in progress on Melene Avenue.

Upon arrival it was determined that a black male armed with a black handgun had kicked in the front door of the residence, police said.

When confronted by the victim, the suspect fled to a waiting white colored vehicle with three black men inside, police said.

The vehicle left in a southbound direction toward Lewis Street, police said.
