Bank Robbery in Riverhead Monday: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — The search is on for a man who robbed the Chase bank in the old Walmart shopping plaza in Riverhead Monday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place on Monday at 5:56 p.m. when police responded to Chase Bank, located at 655 Old Country Road in Riverhead for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.

A man handed the teller a note demanding money, police said. A quantity of United States currency was turned over to the man and he fled the area on foot, police said.

The white man had long black hair and was wearing a black hooded shirt, police said.
