Big-Hearted Humans Help Four-Footed Friend In Need
"I wish everyone in life could experience what a true best friend is the way she has been there for me."

RIVERHEAD, NY — Huge-hearted humans are joining forces to help a four-legged friend in need.
A GoFundMe page,"Darla's Surgery" was created by Michelle Farruggia to help a dog who's faced enormous health problems.
"Darla is a nine year old King Shepherd with an unbelievable love for life," she wrote. More than that she, she said, Darla is a New York State certified emotional support animal. "A companion, a protector — and, of course, family," she said.

Last year, Darla suffered from cancer, a type common in larger breed female dogs, Farruggia said.
"Nothing would have stopped me from getting all the treatment she needed. Now, just a few months later, she needs hip surgery," she wrote.
