Blue Waves Win; Community Celebrates Homecoming In Riverhead
A beloved annual tradition was back in Riverhead as the homecoming parade returned and the Blue Waves scored a win.
RIVERHEAD, NY —Riverhead High School students celebrated the return of a beloved tradition Saturday as they participated in homecoming festivities — and cheered a Blue Waves win.
Riverhead High School's football team played against Central Islip on Coach Mike McKillop Memorial Field and emerged victorious with a score of 22 to 12, making their record 2 to 1, the district said.
The day began with the annual fun-filled homecoming parade, which included students, staff, administrators, members of the Board of Education, local fire departments, and police officers — all of whom marched down Main Street bedecked in blue to the field.

After the win, the Blue Waves rang the victory bell at Pulaski Street Elementary School, the district said.
