2-Year-Old Boy Dies After Being Struck By Car In Suffolk County

Tragedy struck when the boy, who had been playing in a yard, ran into the roadway Saturday afternoon, police say.

WADING RIVER, NY — A 2-year boy died Saturday after being struck by a car in Wading River, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, a 911 call came in at 4:38 p.m. reporting a child struck by a vehicle in Oakwood On The Sound near Locust Road in Wading River.

The boy, from Astoria, Queens, was playing in a yard when he ran into the roadway and was struck by a 2015 Audi Q7, police said.

Wading River Fire Department Ambulance was notified and responded to render aid to the child; WRFD Ambulance transported the child to PBMC with serious injuries, police said.

The child died shortly after arrival, police said.

The driver of the Audi, a woman from Old Field, will not face any criminal charges, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded to the scene.
