UPDATE: Fire at Old 84 Lumber Location Deemed Suspicious

Multiple fire departments battled blaze on West Main Street Wednesday afternoon.

RIVERHEAD, NY - Multiple fire departments battled a blaze at the old 84 Lumber location in Riverhead on Wednesday afternoon.

The blaze began around 2:24 p.m. at a building at 1751 W. Main Street. The building was not occupied and no injuries were reported, according to Riverhead Town Police.

The Riverhead, Jamesport, Flanders fire department responded and extinguished the fire.

The fire is considered suspicious in nature and is under investigation, police said.

Anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time, or who has information regarding the fire is asked to contact the Riverhead Police Detective Division at 631-727-4500.

84 Lumber closed in 2012, but it is reportedly looking to re-open at its former home.
