Brecknock Hall to Give Military Couple Dream Wedding Through Annual Veterans Wedding Giveback

The event began back in 2011 to thank and recognize local military personnel.

Brecknock Hall at Peconic Landing announced they will once again be giving a military couple the opportunity to have a dream wedding for free through their annual Veterans Wedding Giveback.

The event, sponsored by Peconic Landing, began in 2011 as an opportunity to thank local military personnel and recognize them for their service.

Now in its 5th year, it has become a community affair, made possible through sponsorship and contributions from local businesses and organizations who donate the time, talents and services that help to make the dream day a reality.

“This opportunity is a great example of a community coming together to show its gratitude to the men and women who serve our country,” said Robert J. Syron, President and CEO of Peconic Landing. “Hosting the Veterans Wedding Giveback reflects our appreciation for the sacrifices they make.”

About $60,000 worth of services and in-kind donations are donated each year.

Applicants can visit http://www.brecknockhall.com/veterans-day-wedding-giveback/ to enter.

The application deadline is May 12.

The winning couple will be chosen by a panel of Peconic Landing’s veteran residents who judge the contest based on the number of years served, special military honors, and each individual couple’s personal love story.

Robert William Lees III and Amy Hughes, last year’s winning bride and groom, said their wedding was one of a kind.

“Our wedding was the most amazing time. It was a Gatsby-style wedding to which we could have never managed on our own,” Hughes said. “Everything was amazing; the food, music and flowers, right down to the photographer. It was a dream come true for me and my husband. We were so happy we filled out the application and actually won!”
