To Kill a Mockingbird follows a young girl named Scout Finch as she grows up in a Southern town divided by prejudice, where her lawyer father, Atticus, defends a Black man falsely accused of a terrible crime. As the trial unfolds, Scout witnesses both the cruelty of injustice and the quiet power of moral courage. Through her eyes, the audience encounters the mystery surrounding a reclusive neighbor, the tensions of a community on edge, and the lessons that shape her understanding of right and wrong. This stage adaptation brings Harper Lee’s enduring story to life with emotional depth, humanity, and hope.

Each performance will be followed by an optional Q&amp;A talkback with the performers.

Jamesport Meeting House

Jamesport Meeting House invites you to tap your feet to the music of Mudflats String Band on Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. Inspired by traditional Americana music rooted in southern Appalachian Celtic fiddle and African banjo, these talented North Fork musicians blend rich harmonies and twin fiddle flair into a fresh, contemporary sound. The band’s mix of traditional fiddle, banjo, mandolin, guitar, bass and drums is updated with electric fiddle to create an original sound. Join us for innovative arrangements of timeless music that touches the heart as well as tunes that raise a ruckus. Tickets to the Mudflats String Band are only $20 and may be purchased in advance through the Jamesport Meeting House website at: <a href="https://www.jamesportmeetinghouse.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">www.jamesportmeetinghouse.org</a>. The Jamesport Meeting House, erected in 1731, is the oldest public structure on the East End of Long Island. The Meeting House is prized for its superb acoustics as well as its historic significance.

American Legion Post 803

Long Island Cares Veterans Project and the Southold American Legion Griswold-Terry-Glover Post 803 and its Auxiliary are teaming-up to host a Veterans Resource Fair and Food Distribution on Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southold American Legion Post at 51655 Main Road (Route 25). The event will feature more than 25 Long Island organizations that offer services and programs specifically for veterans and active military personnel. In addition, Long Island Cares Veterans Project will distribute free fresh produce to veterans provided by the Long Island Cares Farm Truck and a free brown bag lunch will be offered to the first 200 vets in attendance. Admission to the Veterans Resource Fair is free and open to all veterans and active military. Individuals planning to attend are asked to register in advance by phoning Justin at 631-583-3663 ext. 151, however, walk-ins will be welcome.
