Calverton Woman Struck By Car on Route 58: Police

BREAKING: The woman was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with a head injury, police said.

RIVERHEAD, NY — A female pedestrian suffered a head injury after being struck by a car on Route 58 Friday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, tShanon Didavide, 29, of Calverton, was attempting to cross Route 58 outside the Holiday Inn Express on foot from the south side at 11:05 p.m. Friday, when she was struck by a westbound 2007 Nissan four-door sedan driven by Amanda Riggs, 25, of Ridge. Police found her lying in the roadway, authorities said.

No charges have been filed, police said.

Didavide was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries to her head, police said.

Riggs' vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said. New York State Police responded to the scene to assist with roadway measurements and collision reconstruction, police said.

Didavide remained hospitalized in critical condition on Saturday, police said.
