Candidate Profile: Jodi Giglio, New York State Assembly District 2

Election Day is Tuesday, and voters will choose between incumbent and Republican Jodi Giglio and Wendy Hamberger, a Democratic candidate seeking the New York State Assembly District 2 seat.
Senate District 2 covers the East End towns of Southold and Riverhead as well as some of eastern Brookhaven Town.
In anticipation of the election, Patch asked candidates in the contested races to answer questions about their campaigns. Here are their answers, lightly edited for clarity.

Why are you seeking this office?
To make New York a better place for families and businesses.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I attend many events within my district to keep my pulse on the needs of my constituents. I make myself available to problem-solve.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
My bill no. A6552 which increases STAR exemptions and adjusts personal income tax rates. Bill No. 6795 Changing College Tuition Savings Program to include elementary and secondary schools. A 6940 Keri Stromski bill and A9434 to require landlords to install sprinkler systems and emergency fire escapes for multi-level rental buildings, so we don't have what happened on Second Street happen again.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Life experience in my private business and life.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Listen, sleep on it and then make a decision.
