JAMESPORT, NY — An entire community has turned to social media to help a beloved local Jamesport firefighter find a case containing tools essential to his craft.

Jim Fetten's daughter Kerri reached out for assistance on Facebook this week, and the post has been shared like wildfire: "Help needed. Our dad Jim Fetten of Fetten Sign Co. and FireTruckLettering.com lost a very similar case."

While the photo below is not his case, it is almost exactly the same in appearance, she said.

"The case is his lettering case, containing his brushes," she said. "Needless to say we are hoping that some wonderful person will turn it in to the Riverhead Police Department or one of us. Thanks to a wonderful RPD police officer, two other cases were recovered."

The case fell off of his truck bed due to an unsecured tailgate, Kerri said — lost somewhere between Jamesport and west to Twomey Avenue in Riverhead, and possibly as far as Wading River Firehouse.

"Please share — as some of these brushes are older than me," she said.

Fire departments also weighed in to help.

"Please be on the lookout and spread the word. Jim has done lettering for most of the East End Departments, and all of Jamesport's apparatus. He is also a member of the JFD. Any help would be greatly appreciated," the Jamesport Fire Department said.
