DA: Closing Arguments in Trial of Joseph Perez to Take Place on Tuesday
Perez is accused of striking and killing a Middle Island woman while drunk back in 2014, according to the DA.

The closing arguments in the aggravated vehicular homicide trial of a Flanders man are scheduled for Tuesday, May 26 according to Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.
Joseph Perez, 31, drove into the Hampton Bays business district and went onto the shoulder of the highway road near the Ponquogue Avenue intersection on January 5, 2014, according to Spota.
Perez then sideswiped a parked car and struck a second car and its driver, Donna Sartori, 56, of Middle Island.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the DA.
Perez was found to have a blood alcohol level of .20 after the crash, Spota said.

He is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and leaving the scene, according to the DA.
State Supreme Court Justice Fernando Camacho (third floor of the First District courthouse) will call the court calendar at 9:30 am.
